Caring for our community

Little Paxton Parish Council looks after the amenities of the village including the Queen Elizabeth II Playing Field, Children's Play Park, Allotments and Little Paxton Lawn Cemetery.

The Parish Council is the first stage of the planning process and Councillors consider all planning applications made for work in the Village.

All telephone calls to the Clerk are recorded for training & monitoring purposes.

The correspondence address for the Parish Council is not a public office and all meetings with the Clerk are to be arranged by appointment.

The Council makes grants to local organisations and applications should be made to the Clerk in September each year to allow consideration when the Council sets its budget for the coming year. However, applications will be accepted at other times throughout the year.

The Full Council meets on the first and third Thursday of each month (except August) at 7.30pm in the rear Committee Room at the Village Hall. Members of the public & press are welcome to attend all Council meetings. Each Full Council Meeting Agenda has a 15 minute Public Forum for members of the public to raise issues with the Council relating to items of Council business which are for debate on the Agenda.

Before the start of Full Council meetings, there will be an opportunity for members of the public to raise issues with the Clerk as items for future meeting agendas.

Notices of meetings and their minutes appear on Village Notice Boards. Agendas are also available on the website.

Copies of Councillors' Register of Interest Forms are available on the Huntingdonshire District Council's website and on this website in the Council Document Library

All queries regarding the Parish Council should be directed to the Clerk - See "Contact the Parish Council" link at the top of the left hand menu.

Little Paxton Parish Council performs a range of functions to provide management of the local facilities and environment. Some of these functions it conducts itself whilst in other cases it provides feed back to Huntingdonshire District Council, Cambridgeshire County Council and National Government. Little Paxton Parish Council has direct representation on Huntingdon District Council and numerous other local organisations.

But perhaps the most important responsibility taken on by the Little Paxton Parish Councillors is to maintain the public pride and civic dignity of the parish. Look around and observe your community. Most of what you see has been passionately devised, created, organised and maintained by dedicated citizens of the Little Paxton who have been elected as parish councillors over many years. This can only happen with the support of the rest of the population and that may mean you too.
